Proud Acres is a 180kwp solar system supplying a chicken farm in the outskirts of Greytown. Due to notorious outages in the area, they required a 322kw BESS. The battery discharges during unplanned outages, loadshedding and during peak TOU charges. During non-solar production hours, should the outage extend longer than the designed battery size, the generator will activate automatically and supply power to the site as well as charge the battery. Should this occur during the day the solar system will also contribute to this process. Once the battery is full, the generator will turn off, allowing the battery and available solar to take over the full load.
