The project
Wellness Choice is a KwaZulu-Natal producer of affordable medical cannabis, cultivated on a farm near Elandslaagte, outside Ladysmith. Controlled cultivation depends on uninterrupted power for lighting, climate control and processing. Energy security here is not an efficiency measure; it protects the crop.
We delivered a 520 kWp ground-mounted solar plant with 1.446 MWh of battery storage, supported by two 250 kW rectifiers. The rectifiers convert AC power from the grid or the generator into DC to charge the batteries directly, giving the storage system a dedicated charging path even when solar production is low. The batteries are ready whenever the site needs them.
