RAN Mines — Bindura, Zimbabwe
Complete reticulation for an operating mine, from the utility point of supply down to 400 V.
- Solar PV
- 5 MWp
- Battery storage
- 10 MWh
The project
Phase 1 takes power from the existing ZETDC 33 kV outdoor yard into a new 33 kV intake substation, then through three new 5 MVA 33/11 kV transformers to new 11 kV indoor supply and feeder substations. From there, four 2 MVA 11 kV/400 V transformers and two new 400 V containers with main LV panels supply the mine's process loads: milling, CIL, flotation, dewatering, and water supply and drainage.
Phase 2 integrates hybrid generation and storage on the 11 kV network: six 1.5 MVA diesel generators, a 5 MW / 10 MWh battery energy storage system, and a 5 MWp (4.4 MWac) solar PV plant, all coordinated by a ComAp energy management system.
