The project
Highveld Mall is our fourth large-scale installation for this client, bringing our work for them to just under 10 MWp.
Early in design, we worked with the consultant on a value-engineered layout. A full-rail mounting system spans the roof's many flashings, turning previously unusable roof space into generating capacity.
The location demanded more. Duvha, a 3,600 MW coal-fired power station, is roughly 15 km away, and the surrounding coal and power industry creates a highly corrosive atmosphere. We specified materials to match, including aluminium cable trays in place of standard galvanised steel.
The electrical scope includes a purpose-built inverter cage, back-to-back inverter stands and connection into two separate 400 V boards through encapsulated busbars.
